Keibul Lamjao National Park is a must for travellers and the Manipur Zoological Garden located just six kilometers from Imphal is also worth visiting. The state is rich in culture and heritage. Tourist can enjoy various fairs, festivals, dance, music and the traditional sport of Manipuris - archery.

Manipur is a state in north eastern India, with the city of Imphal as its capital. Its people include the Meetei, Kuki, Naga, Pangal, Gorkhali and Bishnupriya Manipuri, who speak different types of Sino-Tibetan languages. The state has a diverse group of ethnic groups speaking different languages and dialects, variously practicing Hinduism, Christianity, Sanamahism, Buddhism, Islam and other folk religions. Four major river basins are in Manipur State: the Barak River Basin or Barak Valley to the west, Manipur River Basin in central Manipur, Yu River Basin in the east and a portion of the Lanye River Basin in the north. The Barak River is the largest of river, originates in the Manipur Hills and is joined by a number of tributaries such as the Irang, Maku, and Tuivai. Other important rivers draining the state are Maku, Jiri, Irang, Leimatak, Chamu, Khunou and other short streams. The ideal time for tourism in the state, in terms of climate, is from October to February, when the weather remains bright and sunny without the sun being too hot. Know the Keibul Lamjao National Park in Manipur. The virgin terrains of the state are breathtakingly enchanting. One must visit places to experience the panorama of nature, the warmth and hospitality of people, lavish blossoms and coy rivers making their way through the rugged terrains.

Spread in an area of 40 square kilometers Keibul Lamjao National Park in Manipur is probably the worlds only 'floating sanctuary' that comprises of wetland overgrown with 1.5 meter deep floating vegetation (called Phumdi).
